"Since the beginning of 2000’s, the revelation of genomic data from different species has revolutionized the biological sciences. The field of psychology started benefiting from such advances, owing to interdisciplinary neuroscientific studies. Currently, neuroscientists are able to tackle gene products not only in terms of the proteins they encode, but also in terms of the functional role of these gene products in different neural networks and behaviors stemming from the activity of these neural networks. In this talk, I will demonstrate the data from a transgenic attempt, where a genetic mutation in human autistic spectrum patients have been placed in the mouse genome and what such a model has shown us so far in terms of the activity in the brain region intimately implicated in memory and emotional functioning called the amygdala."
